The Town is planning to hold several "2nd Thursday" (Evening) Events beginning next Fall. It is intended to go beyond the Avenue District. It may or may not involve road closure earlier in the day.
The Town recently reduced the Downtown Fund from $150,000 to $75,000.
Note this fund is not exclusive to the Avenue but for all of Downtown.
The Town has a plan to renovate the Avenue. i.e, wider sidewalks, replacing the palm trees with shade trees, and other features. such as signage The cost is projected to be about $2 Million / year for 5 years. A major concern from the Town Council was the potential for significant business interruption while construction is in progress. The Town may request some qualifying condition about not suing for disruption. In addition, Park Place Place will be under construction.
The first phase in 2025 would only be creating the design for the project.
